J&K politician’s son apologizes for London protest, writes to PM Modi seeking visa for mother’s funeral

39-year-old Ankit Love lamented his despicable act and sought visa from Indian authorities, so that he, the only son of Bhim Singh, could perform last rites of his mother Jay Mala.

New Delhi: Ankit Love, the son of J&K National Panthers Party (JKNPP) founder Bhim Singh has sought forgiveness for his violent protest outside the Indian High Commission in United Kingdom (UK), two years ago. He wrote an apology letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 2, 2023 and sought emergency visa for performing mother’s funeral in Jammu & Kashmir.

“I, Ankit Love, son of late Prof Bhim Singh and late Adv Jay Mala, resident of the UK, hereby sincerely apologise for my mistake of pelting eggs and stones at the Indian High Commission in the UK, which I deeply and sincerely regret,” he wrote in the letter to PM, dated May 2.

Tendering an unconditional apology, he said that it was a mistake on his part to hurl eggs & stones at the Indian High Commission in February 2021 and he was apologetic about it. Following the incident, he was blacklisted by the Indian Mission in London.

39-year-old Ankit Love lamented his despicable act and sought visa from Indian authorities, so that he, the only son of Bhim Singh, could perform last rites of his mother Jay Mala, whose body has been lying in a Jammu mortuary for a week now.

Jay Mala, a senior Supreme Court lawyer, passed away on April 26 and her body was kept at Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu since then.

Ankit Love, in his letter also admitted that he was misguided by some people surrounding him and this led to the mistake.

He said that he wanted to see and hug her deceased mother one last time and he had no plans to stay in India. In his letter, he said that he intends to visit Jammu & Kashmir only for mother’s funeral following which he will head back to UK.

For the unversed, the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) has remained in disarray after the demise of Bhim Singh in 2022 and now Jay Mala’s death further leaves bigger hole in party’s fortunes as family members are squabbling for the control of party.
