Karnataka: After failed marriage proposal, man stabs19-year-old woman to death in Presidency University, tried killing himself too

Mallikarjun Baldandi, Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural said Pawan wanted to marry Layasmitha and had requested her parents to let him marry their daughter but they refused.

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old woman was stabbed to death on Monday (January 2) by her distant cousin at her college in Karnataka’s Bengaluru, said Police.

The victim has been identified as Layasmitha who was stabbed multiple times by Pawan Kalyan.

According to the officials, 21-year-old Pawan entered Layasmitha’s college with a knife ditching the security.

Pawan Kalyan is a BCA student at Nrupathunga University in Bengaluru.

Officials said that after attacking Layasmitha he also tried to kill himself.

Soon after the incident, Layasmitha was soon rushed to a nearby hospital by the college staff and her friends where she was declared brought dead.

While the accused Pawan Kalyan is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Earlier, the victim’s mother had also warned him.

Police said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

He further said the motive behind the crime is yet to be known.

He also said that Police are investigating the CCTV footage to check on how he entered the campus.

Meanwhile, the investigation is underway.
