New Delhi: Kiran Bhai Patel, who was impersonating an Additional Director for strategy and campaigns in the Prime Minister’s Office has been arrested.
On Thursday, the news about his arrest emerged after he was sent to judicial custody by the magistrate. Patel was arrested at least 10 days ago. However, it is not yet clear if the First Information Report (FIR )was registered on the same day of his arrest or there was some delay in filing it.
Kiran Bhai Patel is also a verified user on Twitter and enjoys a thousand of followers. He is also followed by BJP Gujarat General Secretary Pradipsinh Vaghela.
Several videos and pictures of his ‘official visits’ in Kashmir where he can be seen surrounded by paramilitary guards has now gone viral on social media. His last visited Srinagar on March 2.
His Twitter bio describes claims that he is a PhD from Commonwealth University, Virginia, an MBA from IIM Trichy, also an M.Tech in Computer Science and B.E. in Computer Engineering.
He first visited Srinagar in February when he visited health resorts.

Soon the police were alerted by the intelligence agencies and after verifying his background, the police were asked to arrest him from a hotel in Srinagar.
Sources also said that an action has been initiated against two police officials for the goof up and for failing to detect the imposter in time.Also, a team of Gujarat police is also joining the investigation.
