New Delhi: A staunch loyalist of Nehru-Gandhi family, Ahmed Patel was the go-to man in the Congress who kept a low profile but quietly wielded power and meticulously executed decisions of the leadership. The veteran Congress leader breathed his last at the wee hours of Wednesday at a Gurugram hospital, fighting the COVID-19 and related complications for over a month. Patel was undergoing treatment after testing positive for the COVID-19. He was 71. "Distressed to know that veteran Congress leader Ahmed Patel is no more. An astute Parliamentarian, Shri Patel combined the skills of a strategist and the charm of a mass leader. His amiability won him friends across party lines. My condolences to his family and friends," Kovind tweeted. https://twitter.com/narendramodi/status/1331402822143725569 https://twitter.com/rashtrapatibhvn/status/1331422171416051714 https://twitter.com/INCIndia/status/1331426976859516931 https://twitter.com/RahulGandhi/status/1331408623579275270 https://twitter.com/priyankagandhi/status/1331418443308941313 https://twitter.com/digvijaya_28/status/1331381916746928129 https://twitter.com/PChidambaram_IN/status/1331429984322273282 https://twitter.com/KapilSibal/status/1331422872754024450 https://twitter.com/AmitShah/status/1331441390270644227
