‘Mafia ko mitti mein mila denge’: CM Yogi thunders in Assembly over killing of BSP MLA’s murder witness

Hitting out at Samajwadi Party, Yogi said that the party has been nurturing mafias and the main accused in this case too became a Member of Parliament on a SP ticket.

New Delhi: The ongoing budget session in Uttar Pradesh Assembly witnessed stormy scenes on Saturday as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav got into heated exchange over the daylight killing of prime witness Umesh Pal in BSP MLA murder.

Lashing out at Samajwadi Party, the Chief Minister said that it first patronizes criminal & mafia elements, garlands them and then raises hue & cry over law & order situation in the state.

“Mafia ko mitti mein mila denge”, CM Yogi thundered in the same breadth.

“You (Samajwadi Party) patronise criminals, welcome them with garlands and then create drama over law-and-order situation in the state,” the CM said.

The Chief Minister said this while responding to series of allegations leveled by Akhilesh Yadav over failing law & order in the state.

Umesh Pal is the prime witness in 2005 murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal murder case. He was shot dead at his residence in broad daylight. One of his gunners also succumbed to injuries at hospital.

The main accused in Raju Pal murder is don-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, currently lodged in Gujarat Jail.

Hitting out at Samajwadi Party, Yogi said that the party has been nurturing mafias and the main accused in this case too became a Member of Parliament on a SP ticket.

“Is it not true that the accused against whom the FIR has been lodged, was made an MP by Samajwadi Party? You will raise all the criminals, garland them and then blame others when a crime takes place. By doing this, you are just making a spectacle of yourself.”

Without naming Atique Ahmed, CM Yogi said that he is a mafia supported by the SP and who has been punished for his criminal acts by the current government.
