Maharashtra: Minor gang-raped for 8 months, 26 accused arrested so far

It is being reported that the minor was gang-raped several times at different places in Maharashtra’s Thane district in the last 8 months and a case has been registered after a complaint was given by the girl’s family.

New Delhi: A shocking shameful incident has come to light from Thane, Maharashtra where a 15-year-old was gang-raped several times over 8 months. Police have arrested 26 persons including 2 minors in this connection so far.

It is being reported that the minor was gang-raped several times at different places in Maharashtra’s Thane district in the last 8 months and a case has been registered after a complaint was given by the girl’s family.

As per the reports, the accused had also made a video of raping her and she was repeatedly blackmailed and harassed over it.

These crimes were committed between January 29 and September 22 this year, it all started when the girl’s boyfriend raped her in January and made a video of the incident and started blackmailing her on its basis. Later her friends and acquaintances gang-raped her on at least four to five occasions at various places in the district including Dombivli, Badlapur, Murbad and Rabale, said the Additional Commissioner of Police (East Zone) Dattatray Karale

Based on the complaint of the victim, the Manpada police in Kalyan’s Dombivli on Wednesday night booked 33 accused under IPC sections 376 (rape), 376 (n) (repeated rape), 376 (d) (gang rape), 376(3) (rape of a girl below the age of sixteen years) and under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
