New Delhi: Electioneering in West Bengal is going on at a feverish pitch, with BJP and TMC leaving no chance to attack each other.

In the midst of high-voltage campaign, TMC minister Firhad Hakim has sparked off a major controversy by openly violating the model code of conduct.

The TMC minister, addressing a group of people in a mosque, promised that Mamata government will raise the stipend of Imams. According to TV9 Bharatvarsh, the TMC leader also sought to incite passions of people by raking up 2002 Gujarat riots.

BJP to move EC against Bengal Minister

This has raised the hackles of Bengal BJP. Bengal BJP in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya has said that a team of BJP is set to move the Election Commission for lodging a complaint against him.

Some days ago, Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh had taken on Mamata government for the stark difference in stipend of Imams and Purohits in the state.

“In April 2012, chief minister Mamata Banerjee had announced an allowance of Rs 2,500 each for imams. But, only in 2020, that she announced a stipend of Rs 1,000 per purohits. Why this discrimination?,” Dilip Ghosh had asked.

Firhad Hakim took Mamata on scooter ride to protest fuel hike

Just days ago, Firhad Hakim was in spotlight as he took West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on a scooter ride to protest against the fuel price hike.

Mamata Banerjee rode pillion on an electric scooter to state secretariat Nabanna in protest against the skyrocketing fuel prices.
