Mumbai: 13-year-old gang-raped by her two classmates, case registered, accused arrested

The incident came to light after the girl told her family members about the incident. The girl was left shocked following which her family members filed a complaint against the accused.

New Delhi: Police registered a case against two boys for allegedly raping their 13-year-old classmate inside the classroom of their civic-run school in Mumbai.

The incident is said to have taken place on Monday (December 1).

The police official said the girl was raped by her classmates when other students stepped out of the classroom for dance practice. The two accused involved in the crime took advantage of the situation.

The girl and the two accused are students of class 8.

Rape

The incident came to light after the girl told her family members about the incident. The girl was left shocked following which her family members filed a complaint against the accused.

The complaint was registered against the boys inder

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against the boys underunder relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 376 DA (gang-rape of a woman under sixteen years of age).

The accused who are minors were produced in a juvenile court, after which they were sent to the juvenile detention centre in south Mumbai.

Police further said the investigation into the case is underway.
