Mumbai-Gandhinagar Shatabdi Express gets Vistadome coach; how is it different from regular coach?

Vistadome coaches are very different from traditional coaches that we see in Indian trains.

New Delhi: Taking new initiatives, Indian Railways’ western zone launched a Vistadome coach on a Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar Capital Shatabdi Express today. The Shatabdi Express has train number 12009/10. Notably, the initiative has been introduced on a trial basis from April 11 to May 10.

People can travel in this Vistadome coach by booking tickets as they book traditional tickets from IRCTC.

According to information released by Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, The booking of Vista Dome coach is available as Train no. 02009/02010 and is open from April 9, 2022, at PRS counters and IRCTC.

After the new service started, Western Railway tweeted some photos of the passengers of the coach on Twitter.

What is Vistadome coach?

Vistadome coaches are very different from traditional coaches that we see in Indian trains. Indian Railways designed these coaches to provide more comfort and enhance the viewing experience of any passengers’ surroundings.

Features of Vistadome coach

The silent features of Vistadome coaches are an observation lounge and large windows, 180-degree rotatable seats, and automatic sliding doors, available at both gates of the coach. Moreover, The Indian Railways also added glass rooftops so that passengers can enjoy a panoramic view. The coach also features 10 large windows.

The coach is also equipped with a separate cabin for train staff, CCTV cameras, a fire alarm system, and a LED destination board.

Passengers will get foldable snack tables that we usually see on flights. The Railways also provide a Wi-Fi facility for the pasengers.

Notably, a Vistadome coach offers 44 seats.
