New Delhi: About half a dozen people were injured in the premises of Unnoa’s ancient Lord Shiva temple on Saturday, as a Muslim youth went on the rampage inside the complex and went on attacking the devotees with a stick.
The incident happened at the Baba Bodheshwar Mahadev temple complex in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district, on Friday morning.
The whole incident was captured on the CCTV camera installed in the temple complex. In the video, the attacker can be seen on camera wielding a wooden stick and attacking the devotees coming out of temple. At least, half a dozen people were targeted by the Muslim youth, who menacingly brandished his ‘wooden weapon’ and beat the devotees black & blue, whoever came his way.
A couple of elderly people became target of his attack. They are said to have suffered serious injuries and currently undergoing treatment in hospital.

The video of ‘assault inside temple’ also created a furore on the social media and elicited many reactions from netizens.
Attacker chased devotees in complex
In the video, the attacker can be seen chasing down a few devotees inside the complex. There was panic among the worshippers as he ran amok and attacked people inside the complex.
Nabbed by police, identified as Pappu
The youth has been identified as Pappu. His father’s name is Javed and lives in Bangarmau’s Mohallah Dargah Sharif area. In first instance, he is said to be mentally deranged, however, cops are grilling him about his intentions & motive behind attack.
In Unnao ‘Javed’ entered the temple & attacked the devotees. In this attack, 9 people including a retired lawman were left bleeding. It was fortunate that PAC was deployed there, which controlled & arrested him, case has been registered and sent to jail.pic.twitter.com/4WcTUR7XwO

The attacker was cornered by some of the devotees, who caught him and handed over to police. An FIR has been filed and he has been charged with attempt to murder.
