Over 1 lakh migrant workers want to come back to Haryana, register on portal for return

New Delhi: With exodus of migrant workers from across the country, a reverse trend in being seen in Haryana. At a time, when migrants are looking upto govt for help and even resorting to desperate means like walking back home on rail tracks, it has come to light that over 1 lakh people from other states have showed willingness to return back to Haryana.

According to Indian Express report, about 1.09 from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh want to go back to Haryana and have have applied on Haryana’s web portal. 79.2% of applicants want to come to Faridabad, Gurgaon, Sonipat, Panipat, Yamunanagar, Rewari and Jhajjar. These districts have maximum industrial activities and other business establishments within the state, the report said.

If the migrant workers want to come to Haryana, we will try and make arrangements to bring them back, Haryana Principal Secretary Anurag Rastogi has reportedly said.

Last week, Haryana government launched a web portal for those who wanted to leave Haryana for their home states. The portal also has an option for those wanting to return to Haryana. Till May 8, there were 7.95 lakh who wanted to leave, while 1.46 had registered to return.

Compared to other states, Haryana has done fairly well in terms of Covid-19 pandemic. Coronavirus cases are increasing everyday but by and large, it looks much under control and restricted to limited areas. Till now, Haryana has around 650 Corona positive cases with 8 deaths while around 300 have recovered from the deadly disease.
