People’s safety top priority, says CM Rupani; shed light on state govt’s 4-stage vaccine distribution strategy

CM Rupani urged people to follow SOPs for curbing spread of COVID-19. He insisted that people should wear masks at all points of time, practise social distancing, avoid over-crowding and tread with caution.

New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani clearly stated that the state government is dedicated in its mission to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Gujarat.

The Chief Minister added that the state government is also ensuring timely provision of medical facilities and treatment to the affected patients in addition to making necessary arrangements for sufficient beds, medicines and other equipment in hospitals so that patients can head back to their homes as soon as possible.

“It is the government’s topmost priority to ensure the safety and welfare of people. All those who claim about the reintroduction of lockdown and night curfew are merely spreading rumours. Night-curfew will continue in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara until further notice,” said CM Rupani.

In case of worst-case scenario, the state government will take suitable decisions keeping in mind public safety and welfare at the centre. The state government, at present, is moving ahead with its pre-designed Action Plan, to provide medical treatment and facilities to people affected with COVID-19 in Gujarat.

The third phase of human trials are undergoing in Gujarat. Around 1000 people will be a part of the same. The CM also spoke about the recent video-conference with Chief Ministers of 8 states which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government of India is on its toes to ensure early provision of vaccine and is also devising various ways for distribution of the same in a transparent and hassle-free manner.

The CM added, “It is likely that the vaccine will be distributed in a four-stage process. The first stage of distribution will be for frontline workers which includes doctors, paramedical staff, health staff, etc.

The second stage will include COVID-19 warriors i.e health and sanitation workers, revenue officers, police personnel etc. The third stage will have people aged 50 and above. The last stage will include people below the age of 50. These are based on the initial discussions with GOI.

The final decision will be based on the recommendations of GOI and the priority of vaccine distribution.”
