PM Modi to flag off Kerala’s 1st Vande Bharat Express, launch projects worth Rs 3,200 crore

The Vande Bharat Express will connect Kasargod & Thiruvananthapuram and will traverse through 11 districts including Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode & Kannur.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express train at Thiruvananthapuram Central Station during visit to the state on April 25.

The Vande Bharat Express will connect Kasargod & Thiruvananthapuram and will traverse through 11 districts including Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode & Kannur.

Along with this, Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for various projects amounting to Rs 3,200 crores.

A one-of-its kind Kochi water metro will also be launched connecting 10 islands through electric hybrid boats for seamless connectivity with Kochi city. PM Modi will also launch rail electrification of Dindigul-Palani-Palakkad section.

A couple of other cities will also get the much-needed thrust for powering up railway infrastructure. Ground breaking ceremony of several projects like redevelopment of Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Varkala Sivagiri railway stations will also take place during Prime Minister’s visit.

The slew of projects to be launched by Prime Minister also includes laying of foundation stone of Digital Science Park in Thiruvananthapuram.

Digital Science Park has been envisaged as a key research facility to develop digital products and services by industry and business units, in collaboration with top academic minds.

The Digital Science Park, with its state-of-the-art infrastructure will support high end applied research & development of products in coordination with Universities & academia. An amount of Rs 200 crore has been earmarked for investment for Phase-1 of the project while the total outlay has been estimated at Rs 1,515 crore.
