PM Modi’s pep-talk to Men in Blue dominates YouTube’s trending chart, remains No 1 trend on Day 2

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Team India’s dressing room and his pep-talk to the Men in Blue, after the World Cup loss on Sunday, continues to remain the most popular video on video sharing platform, YouTube. For second consecutive day, the video of ‘PM meeting & comforting the Men in Blue’ featured on top slot in the YouTube trending charts thus showing its popularity among cricket fans & people, at large.

When the first pictures of PM Modi meeting Indian cricketers in the dressing room and consoling them with a hug surfaced, it created a flutter on social media. Hundreds lauded PM’s gesture while many mocked & taunted his outreach and dubbed it as ‘drama and an attempt to steal the spotlight’ from cricketers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reach out to the Men in Blue in the dressing room after their heartbreaking loss in World Cup final was welcomed by the cricketing fraternity and general public alike. Many called it a laudable & noteworthy gesture by Prime Minister, as latter tried to lift the spirits of Indian cricketers, hit by huge World Cup setback.

PM Modi’s heartwarming gesture to Team India during their difficult & somber moment has been well received on the video sharing platform. And, the video remaining on top of the trend for second consecutive day is a testament of this.

However, many others were not convinced. Rather, they found it offending & distasteful as they believed that Prime Minister was ‘milking the sad moment for own publicity’.

Congress led the verbal assault against Prime Minister and accused him of resorting to ‘theatrics rather than extending support’ to the game. Many called it a staged drama to earn spotlight at the cost of India’s loss.

Some pro-Congress handles pointed fingers at PM Modi’s ‘inordinate delay’ in attending India-Australia final match and questioned why he reached the stadium, three hours after landing in Ahmedabad.

Rahul Gandhi also didn’t pull any punches in attacking the Prime Minister and rather held him responsible for India’s World Cup debacle.

“Our boys would have won the cricket world cup. But, the presence of panauti jinxed the game,” Rahul said at a public rally yesterday.

Many Indian players including Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Shami posted their pictures with Prime Minister from the dressing room and thanked him for showing support to team and trying to elevate their spirits, when they felt dejected & crestfallen.
