Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana: Modi govt’s ambitious scheme to install solar panel in 1 crore houses

Taking to personal X handle, PM Modi wrote, “The first decision I have taken after returning from Ayodhya is launch of Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojanna.”

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched an ambitious & unique plan to harness the potential of solar energy for lighting up lakhs of households across the country and also to make lower & middle class income grops, self-sufficient in meeting their energy demands.

PM Modi, hours after being part of the Pran Pratistha ceremony in Ayodhya’s grand Ram Temple, took to his X account and stated that his government has decided to begin ‘Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana’, a unique campaign to enlighten & illuminate crores of houses across the country with ‘self-generated’ electricity.

Taking to personal X handle, PM Modi wrote, “The first decision I have taken after returning from Ayodhya is launch of Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojanna.”

He said that this will not only lower the electricity expenses of lower & middle income households but will also pave the way for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ in power segment.

As per the intiative, the government will work towards installation of solar rooftops on houses of at least 1 crore citizens.

According to reports, the solar rooftop program will also involve power sector PSUs which will encourage households to opt for the program and ‘get paid’ for these panels as compensation. The PSUs will generate revenue from these solar systems while lower-income households hosting the solar panel system, will be paid rental for the same.
