New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a woman has been charged with poisoning to death her daughter’s classmate because the boy always topped in academic and extracurricular activities.

According to reports, the woman was apparently jealous of her daughter’s classmate and she gave a poisoned drink.

The boy was a Class 8 student at the Servite English School in Karaikal. He died in hospital during treatment.

The woman has been identified as Sakaya Rani Victoria and she was arrested. According to the investigators, she resented the boy’s excellence in academics and other activities.

This murder has left people shocked in Kairakal, a district in Puducherry.

It is said the incident took place when the victim, Bala Manikandan, had gone to school on Saturday for rehearsals for their annual day.

When Bala returned back home after the rehearsals, he started to  vomit and when asked if he had consumed anything in the school he informed his parents that he is not feeling well after having cold drink in school.

Although, Bala was rushed to a nearby hospital but died during treatment.
After the inquiry it was found that the security guard had given the drink to Bala as they thought it had been sent from home.
The school guard then informed that  a person who claimed to be Bala Manikandan’s mother had handed him the drink and had asked him to pass it on to the boy.
CCTV footage also showed a women handling the drink  to the guard was Sakaya Rani Victoria, whose daughter also studied in the same class.
Following which the parents of Bala filed a complaint against Sakaya Rani Victoria.

The police said their investigations revealed that this murder was a result of  “competition in studies” among the students and Sakaya Rani Victoria wanted Bala to not be part of the annual day.
