Ramadan 2021: First roza on 13th or 14th April says Maulana Khalid Rashid

The authorities clarified that people who are fasting can get vaccinated as doing so is not against the rules of the Holy Month.

New Delhi: Islamic Centre of India’s Maulana Khalid Rashid clarified the date of first Roza as the holy month of Ramadan is about to start. Maulana Rashid said, “This year Ramadan’s moon will be seen on 12th April, if the moon is visible then first Roza will be on 13th April. Otherwise, first Roza will be on 14th April.”

Maulana also talked about the Covid-19 situation in the country as he said, “Due to the surge in coronavirus cases I request everyone to follow the covid protocol in the month of Ramadan.”

Islamic Centre issued a set of guidelines also for the Muslim community of the country:

  1. It is requested of all to follow rules as per ‘sunnat’.
  2. Only one and a half paragraphs of Tarawih should be read in mosques.
  3. All the muslims have a duty of keeping fast during Ramadan and they should abide by it.
  4. Only one and a half paragraphs of Tarawih should be read in mosques.
  5. No more than 100 people can gather in the mosque.
  6. Masks and social distancing should be taken care of inside the mosques.
  7. No use of loudspeakers to wake up at the time of sehri.
  8. The individuals should reach home before night curfew begins.
  9. No more than 100 people should be present during iftar.
  10. All individuals, at the time of iftar, should pray for the end of this pandemic.
  11. Organize Iftar for the poor this year.
  12. Distribute iftar party money or its ration should be given to the poor.

A few days back, authorities also cleared the dilemma of people regarding vaccination during the holy month. The authorities clarified that people who are fasting can get vaccinated as doing so is not against the rules of the Holy Month.
