Recital of national anthem now mandatory for UP Madrasa students

The Uttar Pradesh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made the recital of the national anthem mandatory for the Madrasa students.

New Delhi: In the biggest development, the Uttar Pradesh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made the recital of the national anthem mandatory for the Madrasa students. The decision will come into effect from the new session. All the students studying in Madarssa will now have to recite the anthem in the morning before the classes begin.

The decision was announced at a meeting held by the UP Board of Madarsa Education. This is said to be the biggest development following 2017. In that year, the government has made the hoisting of the national flag and the recital of the national anthem mandatory on the occasion of Independence Day.

Besides the decision on the national anthem, the board also took some important decisions related to examinations, attendance, and recruitment of teachers.

Students

At the meeting, it was ordered that those who wish to become a madrassa teacher have to qualify Teachers’ Eligibility Test (Test) based Madrassa Teachers Eligibility Test (MTET).

Chairperson of the board Iftikhar Ahmad Javed told a leading English daily, ”The national anthem is sung in various schools and we want to instill patriotism in madrasa students too so that they know our culture and history apart from religious studies. It is already recited in some madrasas. We have made it compulsory now from the upcoming academic session.”

He added the board has also decided to conduct a survey to find how many children of teachers who teach in madrasa study studying in private schools. The reason behind this is because of the teacher-student ratio is skewed.
