Sacred Narayan Sarovar in Chansad inaugurated, in presence of saints & eminent guests

For the unversed, Chansad is a place of special significance for BAPS Swaminaryan sect as it is situated at the birthplace of Pramukh Swami ji Maharaj, the 5th spiritual successor of Bhagwan Swaminaryan.

New Delhi: Narayan Sarovar, a sacred water reservoir in Chansad area of Gujarat’s Vadodara district was inaugurated on Sunday, by Chief Minister Bhupinder Patel, in presence of several saints & many eminent personalities. The event saw presence of noted BAPS saints including Poojya Bhaktipriya Swami & Poojya Ishwarchand Swamy.

The state-of-the art sarovar has been refurbished & renovated by the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), in collaboration with Gujarat government.

For the unversed, Chansad is a place of special significance for BAPS Swaminaryan sect as it is situated at the birthplace of Pramukh Swami ji Maharaj, the fifth spiritual successor of Bhagwan Swaminaryan.

Taking to Twitter, Gujarat CM Bhupinder Pantl said that Pramukh Swami ji Maharaj was instrumental in building & strengthening 3 tenets of Indian culture – Saints, Shastras & Temples. He also lauded the role of BAPS for undertaking several public welfare works, in co-ordination with the state government.


On the auspicious occasion, many revered saints & state dignitaries were present. The prominent ones included Balubhai Shukla, Chief Magistrate of Legislative Assembly, Chaitanyasinh Jhala, MLA from Padra and Narharibhai Amin, Rajya Sabha MP and many senior saints of the Sanstha, Pujya Brahmavihari Swami & Kothari Swamiji of Atladara temple.

Narayan Sarovar has many beautiful spots for a serene experience, with Snan Ghat among one of them. An exhibition and video presentation has also been planned for the visitors, to enlighten them about the life & works of Pramukh Swami ji Maharaj.

BAPS sarovarFrom 7 PM onwards, a maha aarti will also be performed at the Narayan Sarovar, in honour of Pramukh Swami ji Maharaj.

Special arrangements have been made to make the place, publicly accessible for special events like tonsuring of young children & more.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated a newly built women’s hostel & PG accommodation for working women in Vadodara, in presence of many members of BAPS community. He lauded the role of BAPS in empowering state’s daughters by opening new avenues of growth for them.
