Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi case: Allahabad HC okays survey of Shahi Idgah complex

The petitioners had sought appointment of Advocate Commissioner for conducting survey within a time frame and then submitting it before the court. They have also put forward requests for photography and videography of the entire proceedings.

New Delhi: The Allahabad High Court on Thursday gave its nod for the appointment of an Advocate Commissioner for conducting survey of the disputed Shahi Idgah mosque in Mathura, under the supervision of court.

It may be noted that Shah Idgah mosque complex adjoins the famed Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple of Mathura and has been under contention for long over its disputed status.

Vishnu Shankar Jain, the counsel for petitioning side said,“On December 18, court will decide the modalities of commission like how many advocates will be appointed commissioner and time frame of the survey.”

About a month ago, the court had reserved the order on the application after hearing the parties concerned.

The petition has reportedly been filed by the deity himself (Bhagwan Sri Krishna Virajman) and 7 others through advocates battery of leading advocates. It claims that the mosque was built after demolishing a part of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple and the actual birthplace of Lord Sri Krishna lies beneath the mosque. It puts forth many ‘signs & evidence’ to put forth its claims that the mosque was actually a Hindu temple.

The petitioners had sought appointment of Advocate Commissioner for conducting survey within a time frame and then submitting it before the court. They have also put forward requests for photography and videography of the entire proceedings.

Earlier in May this year, the High Court had ordered transfer of all suits before other courts regarding Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah mosque dispute to itself.
