New Delhi: The last rites of the singer-turned-politician, Sidhu Moosewala has begun in Punjab’s Mansa district. A large crowd has gathered for the last rites of the late Punjab singer. He will be cremated at his agricultural field. He was shot dead on Sunday owing to suspected gang rivalry.

  • People from various places have flung to the native village of Sidhu Moosewala to pay the last respect to the singer. Police resorted to lathi-charge outside his house to disperse the crowd. Today morning, his family took his body home from the Mansa Civil Hospital amid heavy security.

  • Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has been questioning jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in Tihar jail. Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, who has taken the responsibility for the murder, is a close aide of Bishnoi.
  • A key suspect, who is a part of Bishnoi’s gang was detained yesterday from Uttarakhand’s Dehradun in a joint operation by the state police and their Punjab counterparts. Five other people were also arrested along with the main suspect and taken to Punjab for interrogation.

  • According to Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh, he was following him in a car with two armed personnel when the accused shot several bullets at the 28-year-old singer and his two friends. Besides, he stated that several gangsters sent him threats over calls.
  • A forensic team is investigating Moosewala’s carat Mansa Police Station. The front and both sides of the car have multiple bullet holes indicating that the car was attacked from all sides.
