New Delhi: A day after the arrest of Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, the agency zeroed in on his close associate Arpita Mukherjee and took her in detention, said TV reports.
Prior to her arrest, she was taken to the agency office today for questioning along with Partha Chatterjee. Arpita Mukherjee is said to be the close aide of Trinamool Congress minister, who was arrested in connection with the scam.
Arpita Mukherjee is an actor and has worked in a few Odia, Bengali and Tamil Films.
The ED recovered Rs 21 crore in cash on Friday. The money in denominations of Rs 200 & Rs 500 were recovered from the residence of Arpita Mukherjee. According to the ED, the income is said to be the proceeds of crime.
Meanwhile, a truck carrying boxes reached Mukherjee’s residence today afternoon for transporting the recovered cash.
