The new Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates came into effect in the country on July 18.

New Delhi: A tweet by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on the new GST rates is going viral on social media. The tweet is about three GST rates on different items such as Paneer, Butter, and Masala. The tweet also attracted a lot of reactions on social media. Notably, the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates came into effect in India on July 18. The new rate was recommended by the 47th GST meeting held in June.

22% GST on Paneer Butter Masla

According to the tweet, Panner will invite a GST of 5%, followed by 12% on Butter, and 5% on Masala. Mocking the rate, a question was asked to calculate the GST on ‘Paneer Butter Masala’.

If you add all the rates and order Paneer Butter Masala at any shop then it comes 22%.

Reacting to the tweet a user asked, ”Any GST on finding GirlFriend?”

Another user said, ”Stop spending so much time on WhatsApp shahi. Learn from Rahul Gandhi.”

Sharing a photo of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, a user wrote, ”I don’t eat curd, I don’t eat curd-rice. No GST on curd-rice.”

”During UPA era it was 18% due to service tax on food….Now it is 2.5% CGST and 2.5% SGST. I think they trapped u with this joke. BTW it is ur supreme leader wanting single rate of 18% back on this !!!,” said a user.
