Tomato prices burning holes in pockets, may cross Rs 100/kg; meme fest follows

In Delhi, the prices of tomatoes have soared upto Rs 80/kg while in Mumbai, the prices were reported to have crossed Rs 100/kg.

New Delhi: Tomatoes are disappearing from common people’s kitchens as the prices have swollen up to abnormal levels, following a long dry spell and lack of rainfall.

The soaring price of tomatoes are burning holes in common man’s pockets and people are finding it hard to accommodate it in their routine meal menu.

The prices have skyrocketed to new highs and at some places have crossed Rs 100 mark.

According to vegetable vendors & wholesale dealers, tomatoes have gone beyond common man’s reach because of intense heat wave & then sudden large downpour.

In Delhi, the prices of tomatoes have soared upto Rs 80/kg while in Mumbai, the prices were reported to have crossed Rs 100/kg.

In Karnataka’s Bengaluru too, tomato prices were said to have breached Rs 100/crore mark.

In Uttar Pradesh’ Kanpur, the prices of tomatoes are said to be in the range of Rs 80-90/kg.

The sudden surge in tomato prices have resulted in meme fest on social media, with many people sharing hilarious memes.
