Uniform Civil Code may soon be implemented in UP? Here’s what Keshav Prasad Maurya said

“Under Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas, if equal work is being done for people across communities, then UCC must also be implemented”

New Delhi: In a fresh row over the imposition of Uniform Civil Code across the country, a debate has begun ahead of the general elections scheduled to be held in 2024.  After the statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding this issue, UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya is making headlines for his words on the matter too.

Maurya said, “It is really needed now, there should be equal laws for all under the constitution… Our government is going to implement the Uniform Civil Code. Similarly, there is a serious discussion on UCC in all BJP ruling states”.

Maurya said, “Under Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas narrative of the government, if equal work is being done for people across communities, then UCC must also be implemented”.

He further said that non-BJP leaders should also demand common conduct of code, but when it comes to their vote bank, the politics of appeasement is visible.

He said, “Our government is in the favor of the imposition of a common civil code and it is very important for the state of Uttar Pradesh as well as the country. The issues regarding Article 370, construction of Ram temple, and the Uniform Civil Code has always been a top priority for BJP. If the opposition supports it is good, if the opposition does not support it does not mean that we will not consider it”.

He further said that article 370 was abrogated even after the opposition did not support the government, and UCC will also be implemented in the same manner.
