UP: 557.24 lakh man days created for MGNREGA workers

New Delhi: In the Yogi Government, targets have been set under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) for the year 2022-23.

The annual physical target of 2600 lakh man-days for employment generation has been approved by the Ministry of Rural Development in UP. Out of which, 557.24 lakh man-days have been created till Sunday last.

A target has been set to develop Amrit Sarovars in every Gram Panchayat of the state. Under this, 13,716 ponds have been selected so far. Estimates of 5,531 Amrit Sarovars have been made, out of which work has been started on 2,951.

Under MGNREGA, the workers of the state are being paid on time. In the financial year 2021-22, 88 percent of wages were paid. A target has been set to cover a total of 5 lakh families with individual beneficiary assets for livelihood promotion this year. Along with this, a target has been set to provide full 100 days of employment to 20 lakh families.

Aadhaar seeding of workers is being done to ensure transparency in the process. So far, Aadhar seeding of 1.28 crore active workers has been completed against the total 1.65 crore workers.

Under the women empowerment and MGNREGA scheme, Mahila mates are being appointed to increase the participation of women.

Women from Self Help Groups formed under the Livelihood Mission have been selected, under which a target has been set to provide employment to more than 35,000 Mahila mates in the state.
