New Delhi: Tightening the noose on police officers who allegedly tipped off the gangster Vikas Dubey before police raid in Kanpur have been arrested.
Former Station Officer of Chaubeypur, Vinay Tiwari (left) and Beat Incharge KK Sharma (right) have been arrested.
“They were present during Kanpur encounter but fled the site of incident during the operation,” IG Kanpur Range Mohit Agarwal said.
“As per evidence, it has been found that the two police personnel Vinay Tiwari & KK Sharma had informed Vikas Dubey about the raid beforehand. So, he was on alert and planned to attack police which resulted in the death of 8 policemen,” SSP Kanpur Dinesh Prabhu.
All 68 personnel of the Chaubeypur police station have also been shunted out to the reserve police lines over doubts on their professional integrity.

Gangster-SHO link revealed in letter, written by martyred cop
The development comes close on the heels of revelation by a martyred police jawan in the Kanpur encounter, who wrote a damning letter to the Kanpur SSP claiming that the gangster had connections in the police station.
The unverified letter to the then Kanpur SSP alleged that Chaubeypur station officer Vinay Tiwari had watered down an FIR lodged against Vikas Dubey.
Till now, the UP police have named 21 people in the FIR in the Kanpur encounter.
