Uttarakhand in BJP kitty again, Punjab to go AAP way, fractured mandate in Goa: Lokniti-CSDS Survey

As the exit polls project hung house situation in Uttarakhand as well as Goa, BJP & Congress both have swung into motion their ‘resort politics’ to save their legislators from poaching.

New Delhi: March 10 is the D-day for five states Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur & Goa which went to the polls recently. Series of exit polls carried out by News channels & pollsters have made their poll projections.

Among the latest to release its poll predictions is the Lokniti-CSDS Exit poll. The polling agency has made projections for 3 states namely Uttarakhand, Punjab and Goa.

According to Lokniti-CSDS exit poll, Congress is headed for a humiliating defeat in Punjab as well as Uttarakhand. In Goa, the poll prospects of the ruling party BJP is dim and the state may have a hung house.

1st AAP govt in Punjab

Looking at the Lokniti-CSDS poll survey, Punjab, being a Congress-ruled state, is set to bid goodbye to the grand old party as its numbers are seen falling by a huge margin. Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is projected to stake claim to about 40% vote share, a steep jump of about 12% as compared to the 2017 elections. Congress is projected to get 26% votes, Akali & BJP may get about 20% and 7% vote share in the elections. With AAP emerging as the single largest party, the party is likely to garner magic numbers on its own and can make its government in the state.

Uttarakhand to ‘turn saffron’ again

According to Lokniti-CSDS, the Dhami government despite facing strong anti-incumbency is expected to return to power for a second consecutive term. It predicts a 43% vote share for BJP while 38% for Congress, 3% for AAP and 4% vote share for BSP. If the poll predictions are to be believed, the hilly state will create history by re-electing the sitting Chief Minister.

Hung House in Goa

In Goa, the Lokniti-CSDS exit poll sees a close contest between BJP & Congress and Trinamool Congress is also appearing as a dominant player with about 14% vote share. AAP is also seen making deep inroads by staking claim over 7% vote share while others may get 18% votes. Overall, no party will emerge as the clear winner and the state will be staring at a hung house.
