Uttarakhand Poll: Opinion poll predicts neck and neck fight between BJP and Congress

Ahead of the Uttarakhand Assembly election, the latest opinion poll has projected the mood of voters in the poll-bound state on Monday.

New Delhi: Ahead of the Uttarakhand Assembly election, the latest opinion poll has projected the mood of voters in the poll-bound state on Monday. The poll survey predicted a neck and neck fight between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. As per the poll result, Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party will emerge as the third-largest contender.

BJP getting highest vote share percentage

The opinion poll conducted by ABP New-CVoter showed BJP will get a vote share of 42.6%. Harish Rawat-led party Indian National Congress is expected to secure 40.6%. It has been predicted that AAP will reach the third spot in the election with a vote share of 13%.

Notably, BJP has projected Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami as its face in the Uttarakhand election.

Congress is fighting the election under the leadership of veteran leader Harish Rawat. Rawat is also the former Chief Minister of the state.

AAP may emerge as a kingmaker if BJP and Congress don’t get a clear majority in the poll.

BJP to get more seats than Cong

BJP under the leadership of Pushkar Singh Dhami is likely to get between 31-37 seats out of the total 70 seats. The poll has projected that Congress will win just a seat less than BJP. Congress may get nearly 30-36 seats.

AAP, which is making its debut in Uttarakhand, could expect between 2 to 4 seats.

The people of Uttarakhand will exercise their franchise on February 14. The election commission has announced the date of counting, March 10.

In the 2017 election, BJP managed to bag 50 seats, followed by INC (10). The rest of the seats went to independent candidates.
