Uttarakhand: Portals of Kedarnath temple open, no pilgrims allowed

According to the Devasthanam Board, the idol of Lord Shiva, which was moved to his winter abode Omkareshwar Temple at Ukhimath, was reinstalled at Kedarnath on May 14.

Rudraprayag (Uttarakhand): Portals of the Kedarnath temple in Rudraprayag district opened today.

In view of the COVID pandemic, ‘Chardham Yatra’ is temporarily suspended. Only rituals are being performed with no pilgrims allowed, said Uttarakhand DIPR .

The Uttarakhand Char Dham Devasthanam Management Board informed on Thursday about the opening of Kedarnath.

According to the Devasthanam Board, the idol of Lord Shiva, which was moved to his winter abode Omkareshwar Temple at Ukhimath, was reinstalled at Kedarnath on May 14.

The portals were closed in November last year for the winter season.
