Viacom 18 bags BCCI media rights for 5 years, to broadcast Team India’s matches on TV & online

As per reports, Viacom 18 has inked the five-year deal at a whopping cost of Rs 6000 crore. Under the deal, it will have exclusive rights to broadcast all the international matches (bilateral series T20I, ODIs and Tests) that will
be played in the country.

New Delhi: Striking a colossal deal, the Viacom 18 on Thursday bagged Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) rights for broadcast of Team India’s matches for next 5 years.

The Viacom 18 has bagged the rights for broadcast of India’s international matches at home on both platforms – TV as well as digital telecast.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah took to Twitter on Thursday to congratulate the Viacom 18 for cracking the deal and hoped that it will hugely expand the reach of cricket among fans & followers of game.

As per reports, Viacom 18 has inked the five-year deal at a whopping cost of Rs 6000 crore. Under the deal, it will have exclusive rights to broadcast all the international matches (bilateral series T20I, ODIs and Tests) that will
be played in the country.

The matches will be telecasted on group’s sports channel while the digital broadcast will take place on Jio Cinema, where the event will be live streamed. Jio Cinema also held live webcasts of matches during Indian Premiere League (IPL).

Reports suggest that Viacom 18 will also have rights to broadcast other games including WIPL, Olympics 2024, SA home matches 2024, T10 League, Road Safety World Series, SA20, NBA, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue1, Diamond League.
