West Bengal CM Mamata writes to PM Modi, asks 550MT oxygen for the state on daily basis

Mamata has requested PM Modi to review the allocation of medical oxygen to the State, delay in this matter will affect the lives of patients in the state.

New Delhi: After announcing new COVID-19 guidelines for the state on Wednesday, CM Mamata wrote a letter to PM Modi on Friday requesting an increase in the allocation of oxygen. In the letter Mamata has asked the Centre to provide 550MT of oxygen to West Bengal on a daily basis instead of 308MT which was fixed earlier.

She said in her letter, “Consumption of MO (medical oxygen0 is increasing rapidly due to increase in COVID positive cases in the State. It has gone upto 470MT per day in the last 24 hours and expected to increase to 550MT per day in next 7 to 8 days.”

CM Mamata also claimed that around 560MT of oxygen is produced in West Bengal on a daily basis. But, the Central govt. has increased the allocation of MO produced in the State to other states from 230MT to 360MT. This has left West Bengal with only 308MT of medical oxygen per day for the last 10 days.

Mamata has requested PM Modi to review the allocation of medical oxygen to the State as a delay in this matter will affect the lives of patients in the state.

Earlier today, Supreme Court once again slammed the Cenral govt. for not providing Delhi with the ordered amount of 700MT of medical oxygen amid the ongoing oxygen shortage across the country. India reported 4,14,188 new cases of COVID-19 across the nation while death toll reached 3,915.
