West Bengal: Pregnant wife of BJP worker suffers miscarriage after being attacked by TMC goons
New Delhi: In yet another gruesome act of political violence a pregnant BJP worker’s wife in West Bengal’s North 24 Paraganas district suffered a miscarriage after being allegedly assaulted by TMC goons on late Tuesday night.
The woman identified as Sonali is the wife of BJP worker Saddam Gazi who had left the TMC to join the BJP a few months ago. This incident happened on Tuesday night (18 February) in Hasnabad. Sonali Biwi is married to a local BJP leader named Saddam Gazi.
Speaking to press Sonali Gazi said: They were hitting him(husband).. I tried shouting.. they hit me as well.. I tried protecting him… Was kicked in the stomach by 3-4 of them.. they bashed my husband badly. My 3 month child aborted due to their beating. I want justice. Rahim, Shayanoor and Musharaff they hit us.. I want justice.
As per the report, the husband-wife duo was returning back to their home after attending a BJP booth level meeting when they were attacked by alleged TMC goons.
The BJP has blamed the TMC for the gruesome attack and a complaint has been lodged at Hasnabad police station. The cops are investigating all aspects of the case to ascertain whether there was any personal enmity or it was a political attack.
During the attack, the goons kicked Sonali in the stomach while she tried to save her husband. She was initially taken to a local hospital and was later shifted to Basirhat super speciality hospital when her condition deteriorated. She later suffered a miscarriage.
