New Delhi: India’s D Gukesh made history after winning the candidates tournament after defeating Hikaru Nakamura in Toronto. The 17 year old has become the youngest challenger after securing the win. D Gukesh will now face the world champion Ding Liren of China to win the crown.

The Indian Chess Grand master Viswanathan Anand also wished the 17 year old champion for creating history. He wrote, Congratulations to @DGukesh for becoming the youngest challenger. Who is D Gukesh?
The youngest winning champion was born in Chennai in a Telugu speaking family. He started playing chess when he was 7 years old. Gukesh comes from an affiliated family, his father is an ENT Surgeon (Ear, Nose, Throat) and mother is a Microblogist. Gukesh won five gold medals in the Asian Youth Chess Championship in 2018. The 17 year old rose to fame when he defeated Ukrainian chess player Sergey karjakin in 2019. Gukesh was always fond of playing chess since his childhood.

He became the youngest chess player after defeating the five time world champion in the Aimchess Rapid Tournament in 2022. The young boy made headlines again after he outshined World champion Vishwanathan Anand as the top Indian Chess Player in the list ending his supremacy as the top Indian chess player after over 37 years.
