Who was Kamal Khan? Know about his early life, career, and more

A veteran journalist, Kamal Khan, who was known for his incessant reporting over three decades in NDTV, breathed his last on Friday at his home in Lucknow. Kamal Khan was popular for his deep insights into Uttar Pradesh politics and his rhetoric reporting.

Kamal Khan suffered a fatal heart attack on Friday morning at his Lucknow home. He was survived by his wife Ruchi and their son Aman. He was 61 years of age.

In his early days, Kamal secured a post-graduation degree in English Literature and studied Russian language and Philosophy at Moscow University. His career started with him working as a Russian interpreter and a stint with a Hindi daily of the Times Group ‘Navbharat Times.’ He started his career with NDTV in January 1995.

In addition to this, Kamal received the NT award as the best Hindi TV reporter and for Best Documentary on Environment Awareness. He was also honoured with an international award from the Federation of SAARC Writers and Literature for his contribution to Hindi TV journalism.

The legendary reporter stood out for bringing out the hard truths with poetic dexterity. He will be remembered among his colleagues and fans because of his perceptiveness and integrity towards news.

Being an anchor, Kamal was captured the attention of the audience through his poise and expertise. He had a special essence in his language that oozed out nothing but elegance.

Above all, he was one of the kindest and generous human beings who had kind words and boundless time for anyone who met him.

NDTV sharing an email wrote, “It is a terrible, terrible day for NDTV. We have lost Kamal Khan; he was 61 and the heart and soul of our Lucknow bureau, an NDTV veteran who had boundless time and kind words for anyone who encountered him.”

The channel further added, “Kamal’s reportage over the last decades stood out for its perceptiveness, integrity & the way he delivered hard truths with poetic dexterity. Most of all, he was a wonderful human being, who touched the lives of all those who knew him.”
