Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bihar. He alleged that it was motivated by upcoming elections, where assembly elections are due in November-December this year.
Yadav questioned the PM’s contributions to Bihar, highlighting the fact that Patna University was not granted Central University status despite 11 years in power. He expressed scepticism about the government’s commitment to the state’s development.
“PM Modi, his ministers, people from his party will always come to Bihar whenever there is an election here… If he couldn’t give the status to Patna University as a Central University in 11 years, what else can we expect?” said the RJD leader.
Notably, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Bhagalpur on February 24 Bhagalpur to release the Kisan Samman Nidhi fund and launch projects Rs 2000 cr for the region.
“Is he coming to eradicate Bihar’s poverty or to stop migration? Bihar is on the lowest notch in literacy and per capita income. What has he given to Bihar?,” said Tejashwi while speaking to media in Patna on Sunday.
During this visit, he will reach Bhagalpur in Bihar at around 2:15 PM, releasing the 19th instalment of the PM KISAN scheme and inaugurating and dedicating it to the nation’s various development projects in Bihar.
Meanwhile, as the race for Bihar’s next Chief Minister begins, the ‘fitness’ of the two towering leaders, CM Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janta Dal supremo Lalu Yadav is emerging as the centre of discussion.
This time, it seems to be centred around the fitness of the chiefs of both leading parties–Janata Dal (United) and Rashtriya Janata Dal.
Following JD (U) chief Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar’s appeal to the public to elect his father in the upcoming Bihar Assembly Election, claiming that he is “100 per cent” fit, RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav responded that his father, Lalu Yadav, is “fitter than” the Bihar CM.
Speaking with the media on Saturday, Tejashwi Yadav said that Nishant Kumar should ‘worry’ about the past comments of JD(U)’s alliance leaders on Nitish Kumar’s health, noting that Chirag Paswan called him “not mentally stable” in the past.
“Nishant Kumar will have to think that people like Samrat Chaudhary, Vijay Sinha, Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and PM Modi are with Nitish Kumar. Chirag Paswan used to say that he is not mentally stable, Manjhi ji used to say that he is not healthy,” Yadav said.
Further, Tejashwi Yadav said that his father has done more for Bihar than anyone else.
Meanwhile, another RJD leader and elder brother to Tejashwi, Tej Pratap Yadav, made a bold statement and extended an invitation to Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, to join the RJD.
Speaking to the media Tej Pratap Singh Yadav said, “…Nishant Kumar (Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s son) should join RJD.”
