Woman onboard Shramik special train goes into labour pain, delivers baby girl

New Delhi: A migrant woman returning to her native place in Bihar by Shramik special train gave birth to a baby girl on Thursday. According to East Central Railway officials, Asha Kumari who was travelling in Shramik Special train developed labour pain at 7 PM on Wednesday near Sirari railway station between Kiul and Gaya.

Soon after the information reached concerned department, the Railways officials along with local administration swung into action and went all out to ensure that all possible medical assistance was given to the pregnant woman.

“She was immediately taken to Sadar Hospital with the help of Sheikhpura District Magistrate and was subsequently attended by doctors. The woman gave birth to a baby girl while being onroute to Bihar,” a Railway official said.

At a time when Railways has earned criticism for its poor handling of Shramik special trains with many taking more than a week to reach their destination, this comes as another wonderful moment.

According to reports, till now 31 infants have been born in the Shramik trains, being run by the Government facilitate return of migrant labourers back to their home st
