New Delhi: World Tuberculosis Day is marked on March 24 every year globally. The day is observed to raise and create awareness about TB, its impact on health, society and finances. The day urges people to assist the medical authorities in stepping forward towards ending this deadly disease.

The disease is caused by Bacillus Mycobacteria, which is an air-borne disease. It is a communicable disease and can be spread through an infected person’s contact. Tuberculosis mainly affects the lungs and can hamper a person’s immune system.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday handed over the drug warehouses to 29 districts of the state on World Tuberculosis Day. The Chief Minister inaugurated the schemes by pressing the button at Vidya Gyan School in Sitapur. With the resolve of TB Haarega Desh Jeetenga, he appealed to the common people to defeat this disease.

On Wednesday morning, at 11:30 am, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached Vidya Gyan School in Sitapur. While giving the message of defeating this disease from people’s life on World Tuberculosis Day, the foundation stone was laid by passing over drug warehouses in 29 districts. He said that the rate of patients suffering from TB has decreased considerably in the year 2021 compared to the previous year. It can be terminated with everyone’s contribution and participation.

CM Yogi stated “The Central government has ensured that along with providing the patient kit to every TB-diagnosed patient Rs 500 per month will be given, so that the patient can take nutritious diet. Until the person is cured of TB, this relief will continue”.

Prime Minister Modi has pledged to completely eradicate TB from the country in 2025. This resolution can be fulfilled only when the common people also cooperate with the administrative staff. In an hour-long program, CM Yogi has also given information about the welfare schemes of the government. Health minister Jai Pratap Singh, in-charge minister of the district, Swati Singh, public representative and other officials were also present in the program.
