Yogi govt showers flowers on Kanwariyas in Prayagraj on 4th Monday of Sawan

DM Prayagraj Sanjay Kumar Khatri stated that on the instructions of the government, flowers were showered in four phases by helicopter on the Kanwariyas.

Prayagraj: Yogi government showered flowers from helicopter on Kanwariyas in Kumbh City Prayagraj on the fourth Monday of the auspicious month of Sawan. The UP government has been showering flowers on the devotees of Lord Shiva earlier also, apart from taking care of their convenience and security. This floral tribute resounded along the Sangam and the banks of the Ganga as the devotees chanted ‘Bol-Bam.’

During the month of Sawan, Prayagraj and the banks of the Ganges are adorned with saffron hues. On Monday, flowers rained from helicopters upon the long queues of Shiva devotees carrying holy water from Adi Shivalaya Shree Brahmeshwar Mahadev Temple, Shree Mankameshwar Temple, and Sangam ghats to the revered city of Kashi Ganga, the abode of Baba Vishwanath.

DM Prayagraj Sanjay Kumar Khatri stated that on the instructions of the government, flowers were showered in four phases by helicopter on the Kanwariyas. This enormous gesture extended beyond the Sangam and the banks of Mother Ganga. Flowers were showered on all the routes through which the Kanwariyas passed across districts.

Shiva devotees overwhelmed by Yogi govt’s gesture

Devotees of Lord Shiva were overwhelmed by this gesture of the Yogi government to shower flowers from helicopter on them in course of the Kanwar Yatra. Instantly, the atmosphere was filled with the joyous chants of Bol-Bam, echoing across the Sangam and the banks of the sacred Ganges. Rameshwar, a dedicated Shiva devotee who faithfully carries the holy water of Triveni from Sangam to Kashi, the city of Baba Vishwanath, shared that for over a decade, he has undertaken this pilgrimage every Sawan, but no previous government has bestowed such profound respect and honor upon Shiva devotees as the Yogi government.

Bhanupratap, who embarked on a sacred journey to offer Ganga water to the Padila Mahadev Temple after collecting it from Dashashwamedh Ghat in Daraganj, was deeply touched by the immense respect and consideration shown to the devotees. He described it as “not a shower of flowers, but a shower of blessings of Mahadev, which only a chief minister like Yogi Adityanath was capable of doing.”

Foolproof arrangements made for security & convenience of Lord Shiva devotees

The administration has made all the arrangements for the convenience and safety of the Lord Shiva devotees. According to Police Commissioner Prayagraj, Ramit Sharma, continuous patrolling is in effect on all the routes and ghats used by the Shiva devotees. The use of drones in sensitive areas offers an added layer of security.

The administration is also giving attention to special monitoring and arrangement on the cut and contact routes. To enhance safety, signages have been installed at blind turns along the Kanwar yatra routes. Additionally, measures have been taken to ensure that no egg-meat-fish shops are open on the devotees’ route, as per specific orders issued to the concerned police station personnel.

Traditional dance, songs, music along with bhajan, kirtan and devotional songs are also allowed in the yatra, but the administration has appealed to the people to ensure that the sound of DJ, song-music etc. remained within the prescribed limits.

Continuing the Tradition

It is worth mentioning here that in the month of Sawan, the yogi government has been consistently showering flowers on Shiva devotees across the state. This beautiful tradition has been observed in various cities, including Kashi, Meerut, Saharanpur, Barabanki, Ayodhya, and most recently, in Prayagraj on the fourth Monday. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been overseeing the event to honour Lord Shiva devotees for the past six years.

The CM and his administration have been taking special care to ensure that the Kanwariyas’ facilities and requirements are well looked after during their sacred pilgrimage. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself also showered flowers on the Kanwariyas on the Meerut-Delhi highway on the second Monday of Sawan.
