DSLSA celebrates Environment Literacy Week, sets up micro forests at Asola Bhati Sanctuary

This year, World Environment Day assumes greater significance as it marks 5O years since the Stockholm Conference, which led to the designation of 5th June as the World Environment Day.

New Delhi: On the occasion of World Environment Day 2022, which falls on 05.06.2022, the Delhi State Legal Services Authori ty (DSLSA) in association with various departments & organizations is celebrating “Environment Literacy Week” from 29.05.2022 till 05.06.2022.

This year, World Environment Day assumes greater significance as it marks 5O years since the Stockholm Conference, which led to the designation of 5th June as the World Environment Day.

DSLSA launched the “Environment literacy Week” on 29.05.2022 with Environment Literacy Programmes and setting up of Suksha m Van/Micro forests at Asola Bhati Wildlife Sanctuary, Delhi. DSLSA has organized a One- day Workshop on Environment Protection for the legal Aid Counsels on 01.06.2022 at NDMC Convention Centre, Palika Kendra, Sansad Marg, New Delhi, to sensitize the Legal Aid Counsels and Para Legal Volunteers about environmental legal issues and also to encourage them to adopt environment-friendly lifestyles so that we achieve the hitherto elusive dream of sustainable development.

This event will be graced by eminent resource persons such a Senior Advocates of the Su pre me Court and High Court of Delhi and Environmental Activists and attended by Legal Aid Counsels, Para Legal Volunteers and Law Students. The celebration of the “Environment literacy Week” shall culminate on 05.06.2022 at Tihar jail Complex, where vertical gardens made from waste plastic bottles and workshop for skill development of jail inmates (between 19 to 21 years of age) is currently underway. In addition a “Suksham Van” will also be set up at Tihar Jail.

DLSAs across Delhi have also undertaken a kaleidoscope of activities during the Environment Literacy Week and organized Nukkad Nataks, setting up of Suksham Van and Clothes Donation Drives, Sensitization Programs etc in their respective areas.
