New Delhi: Devotees are observing Nag Panchmi today. This day is dedicated to the Nag Devta or the snake god. Nag Panchmi is also one of the oldest festival that is celebrated across India.
Nag Panchmi is also known by different names such as as Nag Chaturthi or Nagul Chavithi.
On the occasion of Nag Panchmi, devotees offer milk, fruits, sweets and flowers to snake idols. Devotees also Prasada to snake idol.
At some places, devotees also worship real snakes and seek their blessings.
According to the Gregorian calendar, Nag Panchmi is celebrated either in July or August. However, this year Nag Panchmi is being celebrated today (August 2).
