West Bengal: Woman delivers baby girl while singing Rabindra Sangeet in OT; WATCH VIDEO

The woman was heard singing Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Amaro Porano Jaha Chai’ while doctors performed a C-section delivery on her.

New Delhi: Giving birth to your child is the most special feeling one can have in her life. It’s a painful process, but the first cry of your child wipes off all your pain. However, this woman from West Bengal, while lying on the operation table with an oxygen tube attached to her nose utilised the moment of delivery in the most beautiful way.

The woman was heard singing Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Amaro Porano Jaha Chai’ while doctors performed a C-section delivery on her. The lady gave birth to a baby girl. The incident took place a few days ago on Akshaya Tritiya. The lady identified as Sushmita Dey from Hatthubar in North 24 Parganas district kept on singing Tagore’s song throughout her delivery. The newborn girl has been named Divyangshi.

Pregnant Sushmita was admitted to a private hospital in Maslandpur on May 3. The doctors decided to conduct her operation on the same day. Meanwhile, doctors and nurses chatted with her in the OT to reduce her stress. Sushmita told the doctors that she completed her graduation in Music. On hearing this, the doctors and nurses requested her to sing Rabindra Sangeet to which she agreed. Thereafter, she sang ‘Amaro Porano Jaha Chai.’

Posting the video on Rabindra Jayanti, it became viral on social media. While talking to the news portal, News18, Sushmita stated, “I will never forget that day. I can’t forget the words of doctors and nurses. On the 161st birth centenary of Rabindranath Tagore, I shared the video of that special moment of singing expressing my respect to the poet and my gratitude to the doctors and nurses. I am happy that I got a good response.”

The new mother wants her daughter who saw the light of the world listening to Rabindra Sangeet, to pursue music. Also, she stated that she will teach Rabindra Sangeet to her daughter.
