Asia Cup 2023, Super 4: India eyeing ticket to finale, to play second match inside 24 hours

Indian team will be taking field for their second match inside 24 hours with a chance to reach the finals on the line.

New Delhi: Within 24 hours after getting over the Pakistani challenge with a triumphant victory of 228 runs, team India will be taking on the field one more time in Asia Cup 2023.

India was originally scheduled to play Sri Lanka in their second Asia Cup 2023, Super 4 match on Tuesday, September 12, with one day gap after facing Pakistan on Sunday, September 10.

But with the addition of reserve day for the India vs Pakistan match and the rain god forcing everyone to cash in the option, India is now forced to play their second match inside the 24-hour span.

India, however, will not be focused on their schedule as they have the golden opportunity to take Asia Cup 2022 revenge, where India was knocked out of the Super 4 round after losing out to Pakistan and Sri Lanka back to back.

Today, India will have the opportunity to reach the Asia Cup 2023 finals by beating Pakistan and Sri Lanka in back-to-back matches.

India will be riding high on confidence after outshining one of the tournament favourites, Pakistan, in all three departments and registering victory with a huge margin of 228 runs.

The challenge, however, will not be easy as the Dasun Shanaka-led defending Champions, Sri Lanka, have been undefeated in their last 13 matches and have all the weapons in their arsenal to get one over the men in blues.

Notably, with the ICC ODI World Cup around the corner, playing two matches within 24 hours is not going to be an ideal situation for skipper Rohit Sharma to keep his injury-prone players in perfect conditions for the grandest stage of them all, and it will be interesting to see how team India will line up against the defending champions on September 12.
