DJ “Champion” Bravo joins KKR as the new mentor ahead of IPL 2025!

Former West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has agreed to join the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as the new mentor for the team ahead of IPL 2025.

New Delhi: In a refreshing move for the defending champions of the IPL, former West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has agreed to join the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as the new mentor for the team after Gautam Gambhir stepped down to take the responsibility of the national team.

Bravo last played for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL 2024. However, a groin injury cut his CPL journey short as he bade his farewell to the game after 21 years. Bravo’s inclusion in the KKR camp will also mean that he has to leave his role as a bowling consultant for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The West Indian cricketer last played for CSK in 2022 post which he took the responsibility of bowling consultant, a role which he signed for the last two seasons in the IPL.

Interestingly, Bravo’s services will not be limited to IPL but across all the other franchise teams in other leagues like the CPL, MLC and the ILT20. Seeing the recent development, CEO Venky Mysore remarked-

DJ Bravo joining us is an exciting development…

Starting a new chapter in cricket, Bravo remarked-

I’ve been part of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the last 10 years in the CPL. Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate…

Bravo says ‘GOODBYE’ to cricket after 21 years…

Earlier, Bravo retired from all forms of cricket after 21 years of relentless service to the game. In a recent post on Instagram, Bravo said-

Twenty-one years as a professional cricketer – it’s been an incredible journey, filled with many highs and a few lows….

The West Indies great had earlier retired from international cricket in 2021. Post 2021, he worked in the franchise circle pledging his services to teams across the world in the T20 leagues. Bravo has also worked with both his IPL side Chennai Super Kings and was also appointed Afghanistan’s bowling consultant for the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies and the USA.
