Former WWE champion Windham Rotunda passes away at age 36

Windham was known for his stint with professional wrestling giants WWE under the alias Bray Wyatt.

New Delhi: Former WWE champion and current superstar Windham  Lawrence Rotunda has tragically passed away due to a sudden heart attack at the age of 36 on Thursday.

The news was broken out by WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H through a post on X (Formerly known as Twitter). Triple H wrote, “Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda – also known as Bray Wyatt – unexpectedly passed earlier today. Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.”

Career growth.

Windham who was famously known by his in-ring name Bray Wyatt, was known for his creative brains and adding layers to his character to keep his approach towards the fans fresh.

He debuted on the main roster in 2010 as Husky Harris from WWE’s developmental brand NXT. Later upon his release from the company, he promised Triple H that he would come back in such a way that no one would be able to ignore him.

Windham returned to WWE as Bray Wyatt the leader of the faction known as the Wyatt family alongside Eric Rowan and Luke Harper. Braun Strowman was also added to the faction later in 2015.

Windham after separating from his faction created a new altered ego character for himself called ‘The Fiend’. This character was also well received by the fans giving his career a second boost.

Championship reigns.

During his decorated career with WWE, Windham became a three-time world champion, winning the WWE championship once and the WWE Universal Championship twice. He also won the WWE Smackdown tag-team championship once and the WWE Raw tag-team championship once.

Windham’s last match in WWE came against LA Knight in a lights-out match earlier this year. He was being billed to have a Wrestlemania match against Bobby Lashley but the plan was scrapped after Windham suffered a hand injury.

The last update before the tragic news broke out about Windham was that he was close to being cleared for an in-ring return.

Wrestling community reacts.

After the news of Windham’s tragic demise came out several superstars from the wrestling community extended their condolences towards Windham and his family members.
