Gary Kirsten’s ‘unity’ comments spark new controversy as Ahmed Shahzad breaks silence on the issue!

Amidst this babbling controversy, former Pakistani player Ahmed Shahzad has come out with a controversial statement.

New Delhi: ‘Pakistan Cricket Team’ is the new tea table gossip amongst cricket enthusiasts and analysts. A team which was runners-up in the 2022 T20 World Cup has seen a massive downfall in this year’s World Cup campaign as they crashed out of the 2024 T20 World Cup in the group stages. Pakistan lost their group-stage matches against the USA and India.

However, as the last match against Ireland ended where Pakistan managed to pull off a consolation win, the cameras seemed to have turned towards all the ‘un-cricketing’ reasons. Earlier, there was a controversy involving Haris Rauf followed by captaincy issues of Babar Azam and internal squabbles.

Now, the spotlight has turned towards Gary Kirsten who was seen with his sharp remarks over the Pakistani team. The former South African cricketer did not hold back on his assessment of the team as he remarked that there is no ‘unity’ amongst the team. Kirsten said, “There’s no unity in Pakistan’s team. They call it a team, but it isn’t a team. They aren’t supporting each other…” Gary’s pointed remarks have left everyone guessing at what is going on in the internal team.

Shahzad’s big reveal!

Amidst this babbling controversy, former Pakistani player Ahmed Shahzad has come out with a controversial statement. Earlier, it was believed that Kirsten’s remarks were mere rumours and the South African coach was only misquoted.

However, Shahzad’s statement that “Meri team main current players se bat huyi hai. Unhone confirm kiya hai ki jo final meeting huyi hai, unme unhone iss tarah ki baat ki hai and Gary Kirsten wali statement true hai” confirmed the angst of the coach from the team.

Nevertheless, Shahzad was quick to add that these statements from Kirsten were spoken in a team meeting after Pakistan played its final game against Ireland. With the fractured relations between the coach and the players out in the open, the question is will PCB continue with Kirsten or not?
