Gavaskar ran after Dhoni for autograph, reveals he had planned it in advance (VIDEO)

Sunil Gavaskar was in the middle of LIVE broadcast along with Neroli Meadows and Kevin Pietersen for Star Sports, when he stepped away from the LIVE broadcast.

New Delhi: It was an epic scene at the Chidambaram stadium in Chennai two legends of Indian cricket were caught up in one frame and were seen sharing a hug & some lighter moments.

While Mahendra Singh Dhoni & his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team went for a lap of honour around the stadium after last night’s clash with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar rushed towards him, from the middle of LIVE broadcast and got MSD’s autograph on his shirt.

The legendary moment was captured in cameras and beamed before million of cricket fans via TV sets, making it for a big memorable moment.

Gavaskar’s revelations

But, all this wasn’t impromptu, rather the former cricketer had planned for it.

Gavaskar revealed in the LIVE broadcast that he got a marker pen arranged for him as soon as he got to know that team was about to go for a lap.


He was also all praise for the CSK skipper after the autograph and said that he was the role model that the nation wanted.

“Such player’s don’t come in a generation, they come in centuries,” Gavaskar said.

Gavaskar was in the middle of LIVE broadcast alongside Neroli Meadows and Kevin Pietersen on Star Sports, when Dhoni & team started a march along the stadium to thank the fans for their unending support.

Gavaskar moved away from the broadcast, rushed towards Dhoni with a marker in his hand and asked him for an autograph on his T-shirt. MSD obliged and the duo were seen hugging & laughing after that.

In last night, CSK, pitted against KKR, set a modest target of 144 runs but failed to defend it on back of strong partnership between Nitish Rana & Rinku Singh.

CSK’s loss may have imperiled its chances of playoff qualification but the team went ahead with stadium march at Chepauk. This was CSK team’s gesture of thanksgiving to thousands of local fans who throng the stadium with their loud cheers & endless support.
