Harbhajan Singh offers to provide mobile Covid-19 testing lab in Pune

New Delhi: Veteran cricketer Harbhajan Singh has offered to set up a mobile COVID-19 testing laboratory with a capacity to test 1,500 samples each day in Pune.

“Indian cricketer Harbajan Singh had approached us a few days ago and offered help to contain the Covid-19 surge. The mobile lab for Covid-19 testing will start at Vadgaonsheri tomorrow,” , Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Chandrakant Patil told the Indian Express.

Mobile Covid-19 testing will move across the city and provide free testing to those below the poverty line and charge ₹500 from other citizens.

COVID-19 has hit Pune hard. On Thursday, the Pune district reported 9,841 fresh covid cases, pushing its count to 7,63,194. The death toll reached 11,882 with 115 more patients succumbing to the infection in the district.

At present, the city is conducting over 20,000 tests of suspected Covid-19 patients and registering a high positivity rate of above 20 per cent from the last few weeks.
