New Delhi: Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer showed a masterclass in playing spin and took India to a massive lead after a top-order collapse. Pant went with 93 off 104, while Iyer scored 87 off 105 and India managed 314 from 94/4. Taijul Islam, after dismissing India’s top 3 batters, went on to take four wickets and Shakib Al Hasan also picked a four-wicket haul. Bangladesh is currently batting at 7 for no loss and trailing by 80 runs.

Indian batter touched various feats in the game, Chetershwar Pujara crossed the 7000 Test runs mark, Ravichandran Ashwin joined the list of all-rounders with 400 wickets and 3000 runs in Test while Virat Kohli, with his 24(55) scored his highest ever Test score in Bangladesh.

Taijul Islam has a great morning as he dismissed KL Rahul and Shubman Gill by catching them in front of the stumps. With some assist from the pitch and long spells, he managed to cause regular threats. Kohli and Pujara tried to counter him in their own ways by playing on the front foot, but Taijul managed to dismiss Pujara before Taskin Ahmed took Kohli’s wicket.
Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, both played attacking cricket right from the start and showed some reflections of ‘Bazball’ or maybe ‘Jamball’! Pant hit 7 fours and 5 sixes with Iyer’s 10 fours and 2 sixes to take India to safety. However, this was for the sixth time that Pant got dismissed in the 90s. Bangladesh played in more spin when Pant and Iyer are known to be comfortable with it.
After dismissing both of them, the hosts managed to pick up four wickets for 43 runs and stopped India from taking away the game. With the pitch deteriorating and Ashwin and Axar spinning a web, it would not be easy for the hosts to get back into the game. The morning session on day 3 will be the most important.
