New Delhi: The latest list of Indian players selected to tour Sri Lanka seems to arouse many sections of the cricketing circles of India. While some have questioned the controversial decisions surrounding the coaching principles of Gautam Gambhir, mostly talks have centred around the tug-of-war between Hardik and Surya for captaincy as well aas the team selection.
India has a plethora of talent when it comes to cricket. Naturally, at times many promising talents seems to go unnoticed in this large talent pool. Former Indian cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath thinks that Ruturaj Gaikwad can be the next cricketer in this long list whose cricketing talent can go unnoticed. Badrinath’s statement came against the backdrop of the team selection fiasco that cooked up before the Sri Lanka tour.
Badrinath expressed his dissatisfaction at the entire incident of Gaikwad not making it to the first team. Ruturaj had a fairly decent outing with the national team at Harare in the recent tour to Zimbabwe under Shubman Gill.
Shocked and surprised not to see Ruturaj Gaikwad in the Indian Team for both T20I and ODIs.

“You need a bad guy image…” Badrinath reveals what one needs to do to make it to the national side
In a recent video released by Badrinath on his X (formely Twitter), Badrinath was quoted saying that “Sometimes it seems like you need a bad guy image when the likes of Rinku Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad are others are not selected for the Indian Team..” Furthermore, Badrinath also claimed that maybe players need relationships with actressess and body full of tattoos to make an impact on the selection.
Although Badrinath’s latest comments might be implicative towards certain cricketers and antagonise the board members, things are cooking up in the backroom of Indian cricket. With stats of 7,77 and 49 people are wondering why Gaikwad was not picked up for the Sri Lanka tour. BCCI’s favourite boy seems to be Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh. The question is how long will this ‘favouritism’ be the deciding factor for selectors?
